We, as AFELA (Agriculture Faculty English Literary Association) of University of Peradeniya, have recognized the significance of sound English literacy, in producing a “Universal Graduate”. Hence, we are in an effort to align our aims and objectives with the above concept and expand the community which is benefitted. Throughout its journey of 24 years, AFELA has contributed to uplift the potential of many individuals by improving English language proficiency

What we have done
Even during this unexpected pandemic situation, AFELA was still shining with a series of novel projects and concepts that, most oftenly were conducted via the virtual platforms. Getting adapted to the prevailing situation, AFELA is on its focus to empower the youth in Sri Lanka with literacy in English language, bridging the gap which has developed fear in many out there to communicate in a universal language. It is our ultimate goal to uplift the good name of AFELA to an international arena and extend its service to all who will benefit.

AFELA Debater- This comprises a series of inter-batch debates which provides a fine opportunity to sharpen the public speaking skills of students and inculcate good communication practises.
Our Vision
AFELA has laid its foundation to reach many higher altitudes as an organization. Expanding its reach to all the universities and then schools across the island, AFELA intends to establish a platform where many talented individuals interact and improve themselves. English language will serve as the purpose of gathering and the essential mode of communication within the AFELA Community. Bridging the gap between the skills and the needs of the world of work, AFELA will be able to strengthen the student community as a whole. Ultimately, it is our goal that AFELA enlightens itself as a global organization which empowers the youth with capabilities towards success.
